I directed Spilling the Tea-Quila with Kacey Musgraves for W Magazine’s V6 2019 This Is the New Country package, extending Kacey’s print feature into a playful digital video concept that was put togetehr in under 48 hours.
Built around a tequila-pouring setup and fast-paced pop-culture prompts, the video translated the editorial story into a social-first format designed for YouTube, IGTV, and Instagram. I led the creative direction, on-set direction, production coordination, post-production across title and question-card approach and talent feedback, teaser/still cuts, and rollout support across W’s digital channels.
With limited turnaround and budget, I secured studio space on a credit basis and helped pull together the production infrastructure — including set design, props, casting, wardrobe, tequila, post-production, and social crops — to get the concept from approval to shoot-ready in less than two days.
The video also created a shareable pop-culture moment: Kacey’s “gay rights” clip was picked up in queer internet culture and later referenced in social roundups, extending the piece beyond the original editorial package.
